Some foods are so delicious, they don't need a complicated recipe. Although I certainly approve of preserving the harvest, nothing beats the taste of freshly-picked fruits and veggies. When our produce co-op box contained green beans, I knew exactly how I wanted to fix them.
Thanks for fresh vegetables.

Steamed Green Beans with Bacon
Wash and trim green beans, by snapping off the ends and breaking the beans into bite-size pieces. Steam over a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes or so, until tender-crisp. Meanwhile, cook several slices of bacon until crisp. Crumble into small pieces. Combine steamed beans and crumbled bacon and serve hot.
What is your favorite way to serve green beans? Do you have a favorite variety of beans? (I really love yellow wax beans!)

Green beans are just better with bacon - I make them like this too :-)
ReplyDeleteI love plain, steamed green beans. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteGreen beans and bacon yummy ...
ReplyDeleteYou know -- if I put bacon on them I might even get my grown daughter eat green beans. I love them and so does Grampy! One of my easy fast ways to fix them is to steam them as you did but then put them into the sauce pan with 2 or 3 tablespoons of apricot jam. Yum!
ReplyDeleteYellow are my favorite but green are a close second!
