I'm linking up with Ivy's Six Sentence Stories again. This week's prompt: Snow.
The weather forecast teased that the snow level would drop to 3000 feet. The valley floor was about 2500 feet. Would the margin of error be great enough? Anxious children wore their pajamas inside-out, trusting childhood rituals more than some adult's prognostication. I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas played on the airways, but to no avail. Snow appeared on the mountains, but the valley floor remained dry.

Whats with the pajamas???we need snow!!! Will the pj thing work???
ReplyDeleteThe kids all seem to think so, but apparently sometimes it disappoints.
DeleteI came to Colorado to get snow! (Ok not really but DC was hot and humid and it's lovely snowy cold here). Hope you and your family had an amazing Christmas, Kristi!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, we did!
DeleteI grew up in Michigan where we used to pray for "snow days" and I never heard about this PJ thing! Great story.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the Midwest where we danced with delight when a snowday meant school was called off. I've never heard of the inside out pajamas effect either, or most certainly we would never have worn them any other way in winter! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm liking that inside-out pajama thing! (I take that it simply means that one must sleep in the inside-out pjs, nothing weird like wear them as regular day clothes…
ReplyDeletethat idea of elevation being critical to weather is interesting, here on the East Coast, it's proximity to the ocean and elevation that determines the snow line (closer to the water, the less likely snow)
I'm guessing the wearing the pjs inside out tradition is from the other side of the family. I've never heard of this either. Your creative children could have easily started this tradition. :-) Great Six Sentence Story.
